Professional SEO Friendly Website Design - Step 2

Professional SEO friendly Website Design – Step 2

With the header designed the rest of your website is all about design and coding. The should be a header, main section, possibly side sections, and a footer. What programming language you use to code your website is up to you.

Some things to avoid in seo website design are frames and forces cookies to view content. If you are using javascript copy it to an external .js file and call it from the header. Too much javascript on the same page as your html is bad for seo. Flash is flashy, but do not make your entire website using flash. Also remember not all web browsers are flash comparable, and seo will not index flash content. If you are using a language such as php, try to make it look like html as much as possible. Avoid using echo '
'; instead use ?>

Beyond design concerns it is also important to check on other factors that could be bad for seo. Having 404's or page not found errors is a negative seo factor. Make sure all your links work, and remember there may be external links from other websites to internal links on your websites. It may be good practice to use a redirect if you are taking a page down or moving it. Also having friendly 404 and other error pages can help a user that may come in on a page not found. Your error pages can be customized and help keep a potential customer on your website. While you are error checking, check for misspelled words. This is a user friendly feature that can break a sale if your website does not seem professional.

So now that we know some things not do to do, here are some things that you should do. On page optimization is not as important as it used to be for SEO purpose, but it never hurts. Using title text for your anchor links, alt tags for your images, abbr tags for abbreviations, and keep your code clean. Your website seo design is more about what not to do. Most (and I stress most not all) of what you for on page optimization is proper placement of text and sometimes coding to dress it up. For example if you are targeting website design, and the first text indexed on your page in website design that is great. Adding a little code such as an H1 tag is even better. Boldfacing and other tricks are small tweaks can give text more emphasis when read by search engines.

Now that you know how to start making your professional, seo friendly website we can move on to step 3.
